LNER Peppercorn Class A2 No. 60532 Blue Peter is a 4-6-2 ("Pacific") steam locomotive built in 1948 at Doncaster Works to a design by Arthur Peppercorn, hauling express passenger services on British Railways' North Eastern Region. It is the only Peppercorn A2 in existence after the 14 other locomotives of its class were scrapped.

60532 Blue Peter. Blue Peter, the last remaining L.N.E.R. Class A2 Pacific, is one of the most powerful express passenger locomotives in the UK. Designed by Arthur H. Peppercorn, she was one of fifteen locomotives in her class, entering service in 1948.

After an absence of over 20 years, the sole surviving LNER Peppercorn A2 - No.60532 'Blue Peter' - finally made its long awaited return to the rails, earlier this month.

Blue Peter is a LNER Peppercorn A2. Blue Peter was built in March 1948 and numbered 60532 under British Railways under which it operated until 1966 when it was put into storage and eventually marked for scrap.

Newly restored 60532 'Blue Peter' stands under the magnificent train shed of Kings Cross station with its first mainline train for 22 years, an excursion to York on 13th July 2024. Now painted in immaculate early British Railways blue livery, the loco has just completed a very extensive overhaul at Crewe, as other album photos show.

The only Peppercorn A2 to survive into preservation is No. 60532 Blue Peter. Saved by Geoff Drury, Blue Peter is currently owned by the Drury family and is on long term loan to the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group (NELPG) .
