Dec 2, 2020 · So tonight, and a couple nights ago, I suddenly got a warning that says, 7z sfx warning not enough free space for extracting. Which my Computer is short on space. Weird thing is, I didn't tell it to extract any files... I don't even know what it's trying to extract. Quite frankly it's a bit scary. I'm letting Windows 8 run a full malware scan on itself atm.

When I create self-extracting archive executables for Windows with 7zip, the .EXEs trigger UAC on Windows7. And frequently after unzipping, I get this: I'm using commandline like: 7z a -sfx7z.sfx ...

May 19, 2016 · Try 7z SFX Builder, it's free, supports command line parameters, and also you can specify extraction path on the GUI Main Tab:

It's much easier to use the 7-Zip GUI to create a self-extracting archive. Choose the SFX option when creating a 7z archive. See this wikiHow article for detailed steps.
