Aug 12, 2021 · I would appreciate if 7zip could include a feature in the next release which allows users to make an *.iso from a mounted DVD/CD. 7zip could already read an *.iso file. So creating such an archive is not far away any more. The resulting *.iso should contain boot code if it is available on original DVD. Thomas

Mar 21, 2018 · The only way around this is to unpack the bios .exe file and change some .ini paramaters in it, and then save the edited archive. The problem is that 7zip is not allowing me to save any changes. It says the file is read-only. In Windows, the file is not labeled read-only.

May 31, 2011 · Run 7zip as admin first, then open the zip/jar/whichever archive you want to add the file to, then copy them and it should work. My requirement is fairly simple, I want to take an ISO file (roughly 5 GB in size), split it into 100 MB chunks, copy the chunks somewhere and then extract the actual ISO file itself, as an ISO file, the same as the original ISO file.

Jun 10, 2011 · All of Microsoft OS's come stored like this on DVD. The ISO/Joliet filesystem is simply an alert to the user to get UDF file system support. There are no links to the actual files on the disk. If I open an image that has only a UDF file system (eg a DVD disk) then 7-zip handles it correctly. Same for when the disk is ISO/Joliet only.

I don't have a CD-DVD-Bluray player for 10 years and I have been using iso files. your answer shows a rigidity, a resistance to learn and to change and to improve.

May 13, 2015 · Despite this warning the ISO file can be extracted successfully. I cannot see what kind of data is alleged to be stored after the end of payload. version 9.20 did not show such warnings. Other ISO tools (UltarISO, MagicISO) do not show such warnings for the same ISO file. The ISOs are all from a trustworthy source. So I guess its a bug in 7zip ...
