History of Alexandria The founder of Alexandria came in a covered wagon from Frederick County, Maryland with his family. Alexander Devilbiss purchased three hundred acres of land in St. Albans Township and built a mill in 1830.

Alexandria is a picturesque community in central Ohio, situated in western Licking County. Founded in 1830, the Village of Alexandria boasts a rich heritage that includes Native American sites, distinguished residents and a long history of volunteerism.

The Alexandria Museum is located at 23 West Main Street in Alexandria and contains historically significant collections of items related to Alexandria, St. Albans Township, and its residents. Operated by volunteers, the museum is housed in the pre-1860 former Peebles home.

The reservation form and total fee payment must be completed and received by the Village of Alexandria no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled event. If the form and payment are not received, the reservation may be lost if there is another request for that date.

The Village of Alexandria re-instituted Mayor’s Court in late 2023. The court hears misdemeanor offenses that occur in the jurisdiction of the Alexandria Police Department. Court sessions are held at the Villages Offices at 4 West Main Street.
