Ashoke Kumar Sen (10 October 1913 – 21 September [citation needed] 1996) was an Indian barrister, a former Cabinet minister of India, and an Indian parliamentarian.

Born on 15th July, 1956, in erstwhile Calcutta, Ashoke Sen is among the most prominent and recognizable faces in physics in India today.

Ashoke Sen is Professor at the Harish-Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad. He received his PhD from the SUNY at Stony Brook in 1982. He has made pioneering contributions to the development of string theory.
