I purchased a very reasonably priced 140k mile M62 swap with transmission, along with a remanned ZF torque converter from pelicanparts.

Feb 16, 2009 · Just put the M5 engine and transmission in an E38. It will take MASSIVE amounts of work, and lots of fabrication (read: $$) but that is what I plan on doing with my car... of course in the very distant future. The engine block MIGHT bolt up to the automatic transmission, but I doubt the torque converter shaft will fit in the back of the crankshaft.
