Goba (Oromo: Gobbaa, Amharic: ጎባ) is a town and separate woreda located in the Bale Zone of the Oromia Region, Ethiopia approximately 446 km southeast of Addis Ababa, this city has a latitude and longitude of 7°0′N 39°59′E and an elevation of 2,743 meters above sea level.

Goba is a woreda in the Oromia Region, Ethiopia. It is named after the town of Goba. Part of the Bale Zone, Goba is bordered on the south by Mennana Harena Buluk, on the west by Mirab Arsi Zone, on the north by the Mena River which separates it from Sinanana Dinsho, and on the southeast by Berbere.

The park is one of the most unique and incredible places I've been. Bale ranges from waterfalls, to valleys, forests, alpine plateaus and so much more. This is one of the places that displays the beauty and diversity of Ethiopia. Seeing animals such as the wolf and nyala is amazing, but only scratching the surface of Bale.

Altitude of Bale zone extends from less than 300 meters around Meda Welabu, southeast of Rayitu and Gura Damole districts; to more than 4377 meters above sea level in Goba district namely Mount Tulu Dimtu. The annual average temperature of Bale zone is 17.5 °C.

The population of the Bale zone is approximately 1.5 million. The town of Robe is about 48,000, Goba 33,000 and the Dinsho Woreda (district) 40,000. The people of the region are predominantly Oromo-speaking farmers and cattle herders.

Located 400km southeast of Addis Ababa, Bale Mountains National Park contains a spectacularly diverse landscape. The high altitude, afro-montane Sanetti Plateau rises to over 4,000m and includes the highest peak in the southern Ethiopia highlands.

Goba is a charming city located in the Bale Zone of the Oromia Region in southeastern Ethiopia. It is known for its stunning landscapes, including the Bale Mountains National Park, which is home to diverse wildlife and unique flora.

Bale Mountains and the adjacent Harenna forest at the southern end are for me the no. 1 and must-see destination for birdwatching and wildlife passionates if you travel to Ethiopia! We had the great luck to do our tour with Mohammed Worko, a local and very well trained guide from Dinsho, who knows the national park like his backyard.
