However, there is something about the sound of Japanese pop that I don't really hear in a lot of American or European pop. Is a different instrumentation? Is it the use of different chord progressions?

Aug 16, 2022 · Judy and Mary. One of my top 5 bands, not just of jpop but of all time. I started in the middle, with their albums "Pop Live" and "The Power Source" - they're more alt/punk/weird. The earlier albums ("Orange Sunshine" and "Miracle Diving" are more pop/rock/alt, and Warp is a real mesh of styles. All of them are amazing, in my opinion.
