The Bijlmermeer (pronounced [ˌbɛilmərˈmeːr]), or colloquially the Bijlmer (pronounced [ˈbɛilmər]), is a neighborhood in the Amsterdam-Zuidoost borough (Dutch: stadsdeel) in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The Bijlmer became an island outside of Amsterdam, with soaring crime rates, drug abuse and unemployment. Conditions were ripe for poverty and social exclusion to take root in this distinctly non-white neighbourhood. The Bijlmer gained a negative reputation nationally.

De Bijlmermeer (of Bijlmer) is een woonwijk van Amsterdam in stadsdeel Amsterdam-Zuidoost, in de Nederlandse provincie Noord-Holland.

It is an exclave, separated from the rest of the city with no shared borders with Amsterdam, but with good metro lines (50, 53, 54), connecting Zuidoost to the city centre and Centraal Station .
