I think you should use Boson NetSim Simulator 7.02 for CCNP. i have used both simulators and i find Boson one of the good simulator to practise on. GNS 3 need's our own IOS Images to practice which are somewhat difficult to find.

Boson NetSim and Exams really work for me, they take you through beginning to end. Then use your choice of books to read around and fill in the gaps. I tend to get Kindle books, then I can read them on my PC, on my phone or on my tablet, so reduces the weight I have to carry around when working away from home.

From personal experience, Boson helped a lot for practicing configs and playing with the commands. I've also used their practice exams and I liked them a lot. I've personally never used the Network Simulator but I've read great things about it here at the Community.

So I purchased Boson NetSim10 while I was working on my CCENT, which is a little better in my humble opinion because it came with dozens of very nice labs on many topics but still some small issues. Boson NetSim 10 is fine if you want to pass the exam. The great thing about it is that it guides you through what's important and by repeating the exercises you can really hammer the commands into your brain. Don't worry about following along with the pdf answer document the first time you try a lab, just repeat it blind later.
