The CZ 75 is a short recoil action, secured breech pistol, which utilizes the Browning linkless cam locking system. This is pretty much the same system that was used in the development of the highly successful Browning Hi-Power handgun. This well thought through system is one wherein the barrel and slide are locked collectively upon firing.

The Compact offers all the features of the full-size CZ 75 while reducing weight and bulk for comfortable carry. Light alloy frame de-cocker model featuring an extended magazine release, low profile snag-free sights, and a loaded chamber indicator. The P-01 is a compact, alloy-framed decocker model with light rail.

First introduced in 1975, it is one of the original "wonder nines" and features a staggered-column magazine, all-steel construction, and a hammer forged barrel. It is widely distributed throughout the world and is the most common handgun in the Czech Republic.
