Jul 15, 2020 · Thanks - little tip for others not starting as Byzantine: If as a Catholic with Holy Fury you create the Latin Empire (which I did following Venice making the first two crusades sacks on Greece and Thrace respectively), you cannot restore the Roman Empire. The 800 prestige doesn't seem worth it now.

She is not a candidate for the Holy Roman Empire, so she'll need to take enough territory to form Italia and win independence before she can make an empire title. She'll also need to take the Unify Italy decision to unlock the Restore the Roman Empire decision.

As a minus, since you already own basically the entire Roman Empire by the time you form it, you barely use out of its few mechanical benefits. This strategy is pretty OP imo, and one of the more enjoyable and reliable playthroughs in either CK2 or CK3.

Not gonna spoil the fun stuff about it but it makes a Roman Empire run really fun when you start there, but you do need to pick up a few duchies in the Mediterranean, like Sicily, sardinia, Corsica and the islands closest to Iberian peninsula.
