May 18, 2020 · You can go over 100m. The cat6 standard is for 1gbps at 100m. Which is a minimum, in theory you can go longer and there are switches that are certified for longer runs. A better option is cat6a which is certified to 10 Gbps at 100m. So you should definitely get 1+gbps for cable lengths over 100m.

Mar 8, 2018 · Yes, Cat5,5E,6,6A all are rated at 100m, which is approx 330ft … so that is ok. Not for 10Gb they are not, CAT6A minimum. CAT6 is 55M, maximum in regards to 10GBASE-T. Even then they need to be installed to standard.

If it works fine at 50m, it doesn’t meet spec. 100m is the maximum guaranteed distance if the device meets the minimum requirements for the spec. @big-green-man
