Lime mud waste from the paper industry as a partial replacement …
Sep 1, 2021 · Physical, thermal and mechanical properties showed that up to 20% of cement could be replaced by lime mud while maintaining thermal properties of the mortar. Despite the reduction of the mechanical resistance, mortars with up to 20% of cement replacement fulfilled the requirements of EN 1264-4:2010 standard.
Positive roles of lime mud in blended Portland cement
Apr 18, 2022 · Alkali and carbonate-enriched lime mud (LM) is a solid waste produced during alkali recovery in the paper-making industry. In the present work, high-volume LM was upcycled in fly ash and silica fume-blended Portland cement (FSPC), and its positive roles were investigated through hydration kinetics analysis, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric ...
Mud as Mortar - THE MUD HOME
Unlike lime or mud, modern cement doesn't breathe, which is why if you're restoring an old building, it's a disaster. Your house becomes prone to mold and damp, and a concrete mortar slowly and steadily eats away at the ancient stonework, killing the house from within.
Application of lime mud as a sustainable alternative construction ...
Jun 15, 2024 · Lime mud (LM), a by-product of the pulp and paper industry, shows significant promise for use in construction materials, potentially replacing cementitious binders in concrete and mortar. The successful substitution of OPC with LM in various percentages shows promising results, with some instances demonstrating improved compressive strength.
To determine the strength qualities of blended concrete, experiments were conducted. The lime mud was used in place of the cement in nominal mixes. The nominal mix considered for the experimental work was of M-10 grade and produced by replacing cement partially with lime mud.
High Strength Anhydrite Cement Based on Lime Mud From …
Nov 18, 2024 · In the process of water treatment from surface water sources, lime mud as waste is formed. This waste contains CaO, Ca (OH) 2, and CaCO 3. The article proposes a comprehensive method for processing lime mud into high-strength anhydrite cement.
USE OF LIME-MUD FROM PULP MILL PLANT IN CEMENT-MORTARS
Jan 1, 2011 · Research studies based on cement and aggregate replacement by lime sludge concludes that 10–30% lime sludge is gainfully utilized in sustainable concrete and mortar. Additional prospect for lime...
Lime mud from cellulose industry as raw material in cement …
This study reports the use of lime mud (LM) in cement-based-mortars. Lime mud is a waste generated in the production of cellulose by the kraft mill process. It is mainly composed of CaCO 3 , a small amount of magnesium carbonate and other trace minerals.
Use of Lime-Mud from Pulp Mill Plant in Cement-Mortars
In this work, lime-mud (LM), a solid waste mainly composed by calcium carbonate and small amount of magnesium carbonate [9] generated from pulp and paper mill in the chemical recovery process, was studied as a replacement to a standard limestone mineral filler (SF) in …
