The cosmere is a fictional shared universe where many of Brandon Sanderson's books take place. As a result, books set in the cosmere share a single cosmology and underlying rules of magic, and some characters from one world will make appearances on other worlds.

I had only read Mistborn Era 1 before diving into the full Cosmere and I followed this chart; I thought it was the best order for me. I'd would not have enjoyed some of the reveals if I followed a different order.

Brandon has included a “Secret Standalone Cosmere” novel in the State of the Sanderson at several points. When asked about it, he indicated that it is projected at 200-300k words and more “beastly and epic” and I think that’s all we know.
