The BMW M30 is a SOHC straight-six petrol engine which was produced from 1968 to 1995. With a production run of 27 years, it is BMW's longest produced engine and was used in many car models. The first models to use the M30 engine were the BMW 2500 and 2800 sedans.

Jun 20, 2011 · these engines are friggin bullet proof! They can 500k miles no sweat! Make sure the cooling system is in perfect shape! Mine wasn't, then came a headgasket failure and a cracked head. Therefore I had to get a new engine. I've around 10k on my swap and not a hiccup, I had a tune up done, all fluids changed etc... And of course did my cooling system!
