Jul 25, 2021 · DXT1 and DXT3 have exactly the same quality, the only difference is the 1 bit alpha channel (black/white) of the DXT1 format vs the 8 bit alpha channel (grayscale) in DXT3. If a DXT image does not include a grayscale alpha channel, DXT1 is actually the most efficient choice.

Oct 10, 2007 · It might sound confusing but it is reall easy. I however prefer to go the long route. I open the file in imagetool and save it as a 8 bit image, then open it in psp, resize to whatever, save, reopen in imagetool convert to dxt1 and you are done.Douglas
