The Ford GAA engine is an American all-aluminum 32-valve DOHC 60-degree gasoline-fueled liquid-cooled V8 internal combustion engine with a flat-plane crank. It was designed and produced by the Ford Motor Company before and during World War II.

Ford has reported the following specifications for the 5.0L Coyote engines: With a 3.63 inch bore and 3.65 inch stroke, the engine features a nearly square bore-stroke ratio. The cylinder head intake port design is said to outflow those of a Ford GT.

The Ford Modular engine is an overhead camshaft (OHC) V8 and V10 gasoline-powered small block engine family introduced by Ford Motor Company in 1990 for the 1991 model year. The term “modular” applied to the setup of tooling and casting stations in the Windsor and Romeo engine manufacturing plants, not the engine itself.

The Coyote 5.0 became Ford's first V8 engine with its cam-torque-actuated (CTA) Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (Ti-VCT), which can also be found in Ford's 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter V6s that were presented in 2011.
