It was the sixth newly designed German Ford to be launched after the war and for this reason it was from inception known within the company as Ford Project 6 (P6) or the Ford (Taunus) P6. Between September 1966 and August 1970 when it was replaced 668,187 Ford (Taunus) P6s were produced. [1]

Here’s a quick look at the sportiest version of that later model, the racy-looking but underpowered 1968–1970 Ford 15M RS.

Built between 1966-1970 the 12m was supplied as either a 1.2L, 45hp, 78mph or a 1.3L, 50-53hp, 81-84mph variant. The 15m came with a 1.5L, 55-60hp, 85-90mph and then with a 1.7L, 70-75hp, 95-98mph engine. Ford Taunus ...

De P6 is het enige P-model van Ford (P2 t/m P7) waarvan geen cabrioletconversie heeft plaatsgevonden. De hertekende opvolger Ford Taunus TC (“Knudsen-Taunus”) met lijnmotor en achterwielaandrijving had hetzelfde platform als de Britse Ford Cortina.

Angeboten wurde der neue Wagen, der ab 1967 das "Taunus" Logo nicht mehr führte, als zwei- und viertürige Limousinen, als dreitürigen Kombi "Turnier" sowohl als auch als dreitürigen Kastenwagen (nur 12m).
