Oct 31, 2006 · 1. How long and wide is your chassis jig and is it too big or little? Like I said I have enough "I" beam to make a 16' X 9'. But I expect to cut it down. 2. Do you have your table on wheels? or bolted to the floor. I'm thinking maybe I'll use some heavy duty casters with lock down brakes and some height adjusters to true up the table level.

Jan 23, 2015 · The remaining 3/8" will be tapped for 3/8" bolts. The frame is 15# WF i-beam (10" tall, 4" wide). I didn't want to do any welding on the table and worry about warping so the entire thing is bolt together. I got the 1" plate in, threw it on the plasma table, cut it into 5 sections and dropped it off at the grinder yesterday.
How to build a chassis table and keep it flat????? - Pirate 4x4
May 11, 2003 · Like you mentioned.... the top I made of 6 sections so that the peices can be removed by hand, by myself. I figgured that if I ever got into fab work, I could use the table top sections as Jig plates which can be swapped out easily. Also the removable top makes it easier to weld the lower chassis sections while the chassis sits on the table.
Drill and Tap Jig Table??? - Pirate 4x4
Jul 22, 2014 · This is what I did to my blanchard ground gang drill table. Basically a precision ground table for Jig & Fixturing & tooling. I still need to finish drilling & tapping all the 1/2-13 threaded holes. I bought it from one of the machine shops I used to work at. It is a 1969 model Powermatic 4 head gang drill. Paid $75 bucks for it.

I beam Welding/jig/work Table - Pirate 4x4
Mar 18, 2015 · the Casters work great, I can move the entire truck around the garage by myself. When I go to work on it I'll level the jig with screw type jacks, and the frame will be welded to the beams. In the pictures its jusy sitting nice and stable on blocks, and thats because the gas tank is in the way to drop the frame all the way down.

Chassis Tables? - Pirate 4x4
Feb 20, 2006 · Our chassis jig is huge compared to most. it is 8 feet x 12 feet. it sits one foot off the ground. it is built from 4x6x3/16 box for the base and decked with 3/8 inch steel plate. Our table has many different jigs that we either weld down or bolt down to the table. It can also serve to pull on a bent chassis when repairs are needed.

Jul 25, 2009 · EDIT: For most guys a piece of 1" thick plate is all you will need. For tube work many of the big boys use specially made jig plates for a base then CNC flat plate/dowel pined templates out of aluminum to align the tubes. The cost of the jig work in a high end rig will cost more than the actual cost of the materials and direct labor.
