HNLMS Friesland is a Holland-class offshore patrol vessel operated by the Royal Netherlands Navy. [3] The ship entered service on 22 January 2013 and is named after the Dutch province of Friesland.

The Holland-class ocean-going patrol vessels are a class of four ocean-going patrol vessels constructed for the Royal Netherlands Navy.

HNLMS Friesland (P 842): In November 2015 Friesland, and elements of the United States Coast Guard, cooperated in the seizure of $17 million of cocaine. The operation was part of Operation Caribbean Venture, under the overall command of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

De Zr.Ms. Friesland (P842) is het derde schip van de Hollandklasse, een serie van vier patrouilleschepen (Ocean Patrol Vessels) voor de Koninklijke Marine. Het schip is eind 2009 op stapel gezet in het Roemeense Galați en is in april 2012 door Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding overgedragen aan de Defensie Materieel Organisatie .

Denk aan kustwachttaken op de Noordzee en in het Caribisch gebied. Er zijn voorzieningen om in totaal 90 bemanningsleden en opstappers langdurig te laten meevaren.

For the interception of fast speedboats (which after all are faster than the OPV), two so-called FRISCs (small vessels) are transported, which reach a speed of more than 40 knots. One of them is carried in davits, the other in a small dock (a slipway) on the stern (below the helideck).
