Sep 26, 2002 · What most impressed me about the Gander Mountain rod was that it had a nice quick action, and for my needs that's better than the St. Croix which is more of a medium action. Construction-wise I didn't find it in any way inferior to the St. Croix either, and I think the guides on the Gander Mountain rod were actually a bit better.

Apr 18, 2017 · Does anyone know who makes the gander mountain tournament series spinning rods and are they any good? I just picked up a 7' Medium one up for an all-around spinning rod for $60 because it felt more comfortable than a fenwick HMX and was cheaper. Is the HMX a good rod and more worth is than the tournament series to go back and get instead?

Feb 11, 2017 · The Gander Mountain in Richmond closed while the Gander Mountain in Fredericksburg is still open. Stores were about 40 miles apart. But BPS and Green Top were too much for the Richmond store so it closed. Filing for bankruptcy will allow the company to reorganize and close some of the unprofitable locations and legally break the leases.

Jun 24, 2015 · A friend gave me a Gander Mountain Vortex baitcasting rod in 6 foot 6. GMVT66C-MH-13. Only problem is the guides don't feel good at all. It has metal inserts. I ran my fingernails on them and they are not slippery at all. I don't think the guides are even polished. But I like to do rodbuilding, so I may replace the guides and tip.

I lost the slotted bolt that holds the rubber handle on, and having tough time finding one.

Jan 29, 2008 · Gander was in trouble or something way back when. Cabela's bought out Gander's online catalog and had an agreement of no GDNMT catalog for x # of years. Thus they don't have one and may not for a while. I saw another post here recently where Gander thinks Cabelas violated the agreement and is thinking of starting online again so maybe coming?

Aug 1, 2009 · Gander Mountain, like Bass Pro, make their own rods. It is more expensive to have a U.S. based rod manufacturer make a blank and rod. BPS and Gander mountain designed what they wanted, and went to a chinese factory that would replicate what they want at the best price.

Feb 25, 2010 · The one that looks like the Energy pt sounds like a good deal. It is the top of the line reel, that Gander Mountain has dubbed the "X-Factor" while the other reels, the ones that look like the code are under the GSX label aka g uide s eries extreme. I would consider the X-Factor, because it is like the energy, and it is performance tuned (pt).

Sep 5, 2013 · Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the Gander Mountain Advantage Spinning Rods ? They are made in China (surprise), and are of IM6 Particularly the 7' two piece Medium Light one. Or on any other ones. They are Very cheap; about $ 24, but seemto be nicely finished with decent Cork and Aluminum-Oxide Guides. Thanks, B.

May 29, 2008 · I have 3 of the Gander Mtn. Tournament GSX 54 rods. 1 medium fast and 2 medium heavy fast trigger rods. I also have St.Croix Avid and Premier rods and BPS extreme and ProQualifier rods.
