Few people know more about leadership in crisis than Lieutenant General Russel Honoré, who retired from the Army in January 2008 after 37 years, having served as Commanding General of the U.S.

When the government and corporations failed to respond, residents called General Honoré for help. Seeing the devastating impact of air and water pollution on families in his home state led him to take on a new mission: fighting the climate crisis.

As Vice Director for Operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C., and, as the Commander, Standing Joint Force Headquarters-Homeland Security, United States Northern Command, General Honoré’s focus was Defense Support to Civil Authorities and Homeland Defense.

Retired Lt. General Russel Honoré will be the guest speaker at the Bossier Chamber of Commerce's Patriot Awards banquet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Bossier Civic Center. The event honors Bossier Parish military, law enforcement and fire/EMS personnel.
