Apr 8, 2022 · Get a 7 and retrofit the 7.5 screen. The dials are better than the digital cockpit in the 7.5. I don't own either, but test drove a number of R's the last couple years. A '16, a '17, and 2 different '18's. All I took on at least 20+ minute test drives. The 7.5 just feels more premium, better put together and smoother/quicker.

There are a lot beyond the obvious styling differences. The biggest mechanical difference is that the Mk7.5 has the newer, more robust (can hold more torque) DQ381 7 speed DSG over the older DQ250 six speed DSG. They're both good, reliable transmissions however.

Jan 21, 2018 · Led interior mirror illumination 7.5 yet incandescent bulb in the 7 tbh having the Mk5 prior I prefer the interior illumination from standard bulbs compared to the LED and that is noticeable in my mates A5. Ready to race! LED us considered more premium in this segment, whether or not you like it.

Aug 14, 2018 · MK7.5 was launched in 2018 with a mild facelift. My Mk 7.5 R wagon was built in June 2017, but is classed (by VW) as a MY18. It arrived in Australia in September 2017. IIRC the US received the Mk 7.5 R update well after other countries.

Dec 1, 2022 · Making the jump from a gti to a R very soon and i’m unsure if the 7.5 is worth it. Is the 7spd dsg any smoother than the 6spd dsg? It would be a few thousand more for a 7.5 and i’m curious if anyone has gone from one to the other and been happy with it.
