May 9, 2021 · to come into the "Greek mood", because of a planned journey in Athens - on classical mandolin - I was orientating. A Dutch musician and lover of Greek music recommended me a Greek mandolin player, Loudovikos ton Anogeian. He sings and accompanies himself on the mandolin. I saw on the video he works with only 4 strings.

She has a mandolin that she trained and used to play on many moons ago. She recently asked me if I could find a shop in London that she could buy some Greek sheet music for mandolin to revive her interest in playing.

Oct 14, 2014 · Many common fiddle tune titles have been changed from the original Greek, including "Jack of Diamonds" and "Little Birdie." The natives found the Macedonian words too hard to pronounce. Unfortunately no pictures exist of any of the early musicians, and those early instruments are locked in a vault in the Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Asheville.

Feb 5, 2004 · Growing up we had a Zorba the Greek album with some catchy tunes. I have searched and found that the DVD is not yet released, and getting that old LP is not that feasible. Anyone know how to get ahold of any of the tabs? I don't remember all the names but there were a couple songs I've heard at restaurants, maybe classic greek standards.

Oct 10, 2014 · The Greek bouzouki isn't strung in fifths, as (almost all) mandolin family instruments are. And it may have three or four double-strung courses, sometimes with the lower courses strung in octaves. What is called the "Irish bouzouki" is basically a longer-scale octave mandolin, tuned GDAE or some variant thereof.

Aug 27, 2004 · To also clarify: The Mandolinatas are by far the simplest mandolin music on my catalogue, as they are compilations of traditional, folk/popular mandolin music from Greece, circa 1800-1920. All is readily playable in first position, plenty of open strings, and fairly simple, straightforward pick-strokes.

The editions of traditional, Greek mandolin music I have made are published by a "composers' collective" —a Greek (myself), an Italian, and a Spaniard— and the rights to them are therefore collectively owned.
