Hi Hat Cymbal Alignment | [DFO] Drum Forum
Dec 6, 2021 · My hi hat cymbals do not align precisely. By that I mean that when you close them the perimeter edge of one doesn't align with the mating perimeter edge of the other; there's overlap; they can be mis-aligned by up to ~ 3/16". What makes it possible are: 1) Generous tolerances between each...
Two crash cymbals as hi hat - [DFO] Drum Forum
Jul 30, 2010 · I've heard of guys using 16 " cymbals for Hi-hats. I use 15" myself...fairly thin cymbals (1950's Zildjians) and they work great. Don't get too hung up on the type the manufacturer ink stamps on a cymbal...see what works for you. I think someone posted a picture here a while back of a couple of 20" cymbals on their hi-hat.

Hi-Hat Height? - [DFO] Drum Forum
Jan 26, 2009 · I use a DW5000 hi hat stand. I use the shorter rod with a drop clutch. I have the top of the clutch about 1/2" from the top of the rod. That puts the cymbals edge at about 6" from the top of my snare drum. I've been playing this way since I started around 9 …

Hi-hat Cymbal Substitution (top) | [DFO] Drum Forum
Aug 7, 2005 · I had borrowed a cheapo snare drum from a friend, purchased a no name hi-hat stand from a local music store and "borrowed" the 14" clash cymbals typically used in marching bands as hi-hat cymbals. Now these were a bit on the heavy side but that worked well for my first kit which ( as mentioned)was a snare drum stand and a hi-hat.
Hi hat position - [DFO] Drum Forum
Nov 3, 2018 · I play double-bass. So, when I set the hi-hat I press the hi-hat pedal and the left bass drum pedal down at the same time. When the bass drum pedal hits the drum, that's where I set my hi-hat pedal. I think there's about an inch between the cymbals. That way everything goes down the same distance.
Preventing Hi Hat key-holing - [DFO] Drum Forum
May 26, 2020 · keyhole on hi hat cymbals was globally eradicated (thru a large education program) I believe around 1971 although some guys I'm sure have found ways to abuse their hi hat cymbals Last edited: May 26, 2020

Paiste Stanople 14" Made in Switzerland Cymbals - [DFO] Drum …
Mar 14, 2010 · I just acquired a set of 14" Paiste Stanople "Made in Switzerland" hi hat cymbals. They look to be in decent shape with no cracks, keyholing or major problems. Can anyone give me an idea of about how old they are and any other relevant information about them. I remember cymbals like this being sold via the Ludwig drum catalogs of the 60's.
