Jan 6, 2025 · Surface iron cast needs to be smooth and kind of slow. Ideally practice casting slow, short and clean, distance comes with loading the rod correctly and letting it work, not by swinging it fast.

Aug 3, 2011 · Basically, the faster you can move the tip of the rod from the 10 o’clock to the 2 o’clock position, the further your jig will fly. The speed of movement will start to bend the tip of the rod towards the jig. As you sweep through the cast, the rod will bend more and build up energy.
