Magach (Hebrew: מגח, Hebrew pronunciation:, "battering-ram") is the designation of a series of tanks in Israeli service. The tanks are based on the American M48 and M60 tanks. The name continued to be used for all M48/M60 tanks. Magach 1, 2, 3, and 5 are based on M48 series tanks, and Magach 6 and 7 are based on M60 series tanks.

The Sabra (Hebrew: סברה, "prickly pear") is an extensively upgraded M60 tank developed by Israel Military Industries. [3] The Mk II version of this upgrade package was used in one of the Turkish Army's modernization programs. The Sabra is known as the M60T in Turkish service. [2]

Magach (M48/M60) – (מגח; Ma-GAKH) designation refers to a series of tanks in Israeli service. The tanks are based on the American M48 and M60 Patton tanks. Magach 1, 2, 3, and 5 are based on M48 tanks; Magach 6 and 7 are based on M60 tanks.

Magach is the IDF name for the Patton (M48 and M60 series) tanks in Israeli service. Israel made an application to the US in 1955 to purchase 60 M47 tanks and after the US refused, Israel applied again in 1958, this time to purchase 100 M47 tanks but the answer was the same.

The M60T also called by the Israeli Sabra, is an evolution of the Magach 7 based on the M60A3 MBT, heavily modified for the Turkish Armed forces.

Oct 26, 2017 · The Turkish M-60T was upgraded by Israel's IMI. 170 tanks of this type were produced, making it the largest upgrade of M-60 worldwide. The potential for future upgrades is substantial, especially with military forces in the Middle East, where thousands of M-60s are still maintained in service with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan.

Oct 3, 2000 · The Sabra main battle tank is a modernised upgraded M60A3, developed by Israel Military Industries Slavin heavy weapons plant at Ramat Hasharon. The Sabra provides a maximum road speed of 48km/h and accelerates from zero to 32km/h in 9.6 seconds.

Magach 6 is a name for M60, M60A1 and M60A3 in Israeli service. Fitted with the Israeli Urdan cupola. and Blazer armour (ERA).

May 24, 2024 · By the time the 1973 Yom Kippur War erupted, some 800 Magach 3 were in active service, in addition to some original configuration M60 (Magach 6). During the 1980s and 1990s, the Magachs were gradually replaced with Merkava tanks as Israel’s front-line main battle tank.
