Find and view all Easthaven Cave (AR1201) including detailed information for Icewind Dale on GameBanshee!

To be honest I found the very first hard battle harder than both of these combined. The ogre cave east of easthaven with the wrecked caravan, when everyone is level 1 or level 2 with nothing better than chainmail armor.

I have done my best to choose encounters with as many different enemy types as possible. Hopefully it will be of help to you in your journey! Part 1 (Easthaven + Orc cave + Kuldahar pass). In both IWD and BG the early areas and encounters can be quite frustrating.

Once you exit Easthaven, you will find yourself near the entrance to the Orc Cave. Dispense with the wolves that bar your way, then enter the cave. Once inside, you will do battle with orcs, orc elite, orc shamans, and an ogre.

Plus, we can find the carvavan contract on an ogre's corpse and report the caravan's fate to Gaspar the fishmonger (in Easthaven) for a further 1,200 XP. The cave is teeming with orcs of the warrior, archer and shaman type; in fact, no fewer than 37 are on alert, all told.

Inside the cave (AR2002), you will find four very large beetles (not at all like the puny ones you killed in Grisella's cellar). Kill them. You will find two piles of treasure here, one in the east (506, 402) and one in the west (151, 332) sides of the cave.
