Aug 24, 2016 · My raid was the second attempt to sink the Tirpitz and it was rather cloudy. We had a great deal of trouble spotting the ship, big though it was. It was not only cloudy but the Germans put up a smoke screen. My bomb aimer finally saw it, but the trip itself was called off. Although he dropped the bomb I don’t think it had much effect.
