Komugi is the best Gungi player in East Gorteau and the current world champion. Her talent has surfaced very early, allowing her to come up with world-renowned strategies and counter-strategies when she was little more than a child.

A tearjerker, the scene marks the end of the Chimera Ant arc, where a gravely injured Meruem is comforted by Komugi, the young Gungi master and friend to the dying king.

May 13, 2024 · At the beginning of the arc's final episode, Mereum begs Palm to reveal where they are hiding Komugi. When she refuses, he kneels to her. This act of desperation brings her to tears, displaying the tremendous character arc that Meruem has completed.

Gon would never hurt or threaten Komugi in a vacuum, but since she could be leveraged to get vengeance for Kite, there was no mercy to be shown. Pitou got none, of course, and in that moment, Komugi was just a piece in their game (ironic, lol).

Komugi died at only 18 years old. She’s dedicated her entire life to Gongi and there is the argument to be made that Komugi wouldn’t want it any other way.

Aug 19, 2020 · Komugi finds a new counterattack and said "I'll go with you". King is not alone anymore. Meruem tells her he can't win even once (He couldn't beat kokoriko). It means Kokoriko is not shiro anymore. She saved the isolated king. The black screen at the end has a couple meanings The dying king has lost even his sight.

You feel sad for him because he creates a genuine human connection with the pure hearted Komugi, and they die together in an incredibly sweet way. Personally I think he would have settled human, but you couldn't keep him alive and continue the story the way it's intended.

Meruem returns to the room where Komugi is, preparing to end her life, full of self-esteem. However, when he opens the doors, he finds Komugi being attacked by an eagle, leaving her wounded and covered in blood.

Komugi is a major character of the Chimera Ant arc in the anime/manga series Hunter × Hunter. She is the World Gungi Champion, being the Gungi player representative of her country, East Gorteau, and also the love interest of Meruem, the King of the Chimera Ants. She is voiced by Aya Endō in the Japanese version, and Ryan Bartley in the English dub.
