A Stronghold represented the family's ancestral home of a player during a Legend of the Five Rings CCG game. Stronghold were not considered "cards" [1] for most part of the arcs. They initially were printed in the starter boxes, and later were printed separately, as any other card.

There are six card types in the game: Strongholds: These cards do not belong to a deck and instead begin the game in play on top of a province. They have Strength, Starting Honor, Fate, and Influence stats and traits like Castle and City.
