Mar 13, 2025 · In a revelation to Joseph Smith, the Lord taught, “It is the duty of the [Twelve Apostles] to call upon the Seventy, when they need assistance, to fill the several calls for preaching and administering the gospel” (Doctrine and Covenants 107:38).

Area Seventies are Church leaders called by the First Presidency to be “especial 1 witnesses” and to assist the Twelve in “building up the church and regulating all the affairs” and “preaching and administering the gospel” in their assigned areas (Doctrine and Covenants 107:25, 34, 38).

On 8 February 1835, the Prophet Joseph Smith called Elders Brigham and Joseph Young to his home in Kirtland, Ohio, and related a vision he had received about those who had died in Zion’s Camp.

Jun 5, 2023 · The First and Second Quorums are composed of General Authority Seventies. Other Quorums of the Seventy (there are currently 12 quorums total) are made up of Area Seventies. New quorums are created or realigned when a quorum’s number exceeds 70.
