LFB F109 damaged Dennis F109 JLT430K London Fire Brigade seen outside Lambeth workshops in 1981 are the remains of a Dennis F109 DPP, an ERF Firefighter DPP and the back end of Dennis F109 DPP JLT430K, and no I have no idea of whose or what happened!

The LFB 109s allegedly had the same engine and transmission as the ERFs but the auto box on the 109 was much better behaved than in the ERFs. You could never get the ERF to change up when you wanted it to, but it always seemed to just as you entered a bend, when you least wanted it to. Why was that? Added by Bruce Hoad on 15 November 2017.

This is a found slide of a London Fire Brigade appliance, a Dennis f109 pump escape and a fireman from Woodside Fire Station are tackling a smouldering fire on what looks like a demolition site. Probably mid 1970s but I have no idea of location. Can anyone help?

The F109 was an ideal machine on which to standardize with a powerful Perkins V8 diesel engine, Dennis No. 2 pump, and a vast amount of locker space. In 1977 Dennis upgraded F109 to the F131 (See STY31S) which had a larger engine and brakes and a revised front grill which was to remain in production unchanged for the next 12 years.

GYM 275N This is a Dennis F109 pump escape. It was run by London Fire Brigade from 1975 until 1987 and then sold. It is now restored and privately owned. The frontal view of the appliance. It was used in the first series of ‘London’s Burning’ before wheeled escapes were superseded.
