I got my current job over 6 years ago via LinkedIn. The one I got before this job, I got because a friend referred me. The one I got before that, I got via LinkedIn. But, you have to know how to use LinkedIn. What I mean: When I am looking for a job, I identify the company profile for the type of employer I want to work for.

Dec 8, 2022 · If there is a job posting in my company or team, I will usually share it. Even though I'm not the hiring manager, senior level employees also use LinkedIn and see your activities. Connecting 1 V 1 using LinkedIn doesn't really exist if you don't already know that person, have been introduced, or share many close connections.

But my LinkedIn had random jobs, internships, and volunteer work that I had done throughout the years. Made the recruiter reconsider me despite how I basically had no experience in my field.

LinkedIn used to be a reasonably serviceable way to keep your professional contacts -- former colleagues, folks who might be able to introduce you to hiring managers, and so on. They started wanting to be more like Facebook, and that's when they started adding sponsored messages, crap content, and DMs from people who evidently can't read.

Job searches - I really do not understand the LinkedIn logic here. If I search for a job, using several keywords (say a technology name and a position title), I want that to be an AND search, not an OR search, and in LinkedIn's cases, an OR search, and then we are also going to show you matches that have terms related to what you entered. NO.

Lots of surprisingly negative comments regarding LinkedIn here. I work in talent acquisition (in house, not at a recruiting agency/3rd party) and use LinkedIn for 99% of my sourcing efforts to engage external candidates. It really depends what jobs your referring to - if you want to work in a corporate setting it’s nearly essential.
