M113 w/ M8 turret – The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN; South Vietnamese Army) fitted a small number of M113 armored personnel carriers with turrets taken from obsolete M8 Greyhound armored cars.

The M113 is a fully tracked armored personnel carrier (APC) that was developed and produced by the FMC Corporation. The M113 was sent to United States Army Europe in 1961 to replace the mechanized infantry's M59 APCs.

Two digital message devices are also integrated into the vehicle in order to review, edit, and forward calls for fire from the FO to the appropriate fire support asset. The M981 transports a G/VLLD. The turret is designed to resemble that of the M901, making the vehicle less conspicuous to enemy gunners.

The M113AS4 was upgraded from the Vietnam-era M113AS1 and includes an electrically powered turret, day/night weapon sights, a new engine, steering controls, drive train, electrical and fuel systems as well as a newly designed internal layout.

Dec 26, 2020 · Among the goals of the M113 APC Firepower Upgrade project is to improve the firepower of the ACV-300 APC fleet by installing a 25mm gun and turret in liew of the existing 12.7mm open cupola mount.

The M113 became also Italy's main APC, with modifications such as the Arisgator, built by Aris, a full Amphibious version resembling the LVTP-7. The VCC-1 based on the A1 is an improved APC with rear and side sloped armor, firing ports, Browning M2 shields and smoke-grenade launchers.

Aug 5, 2024 · The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and adopted a module turret for American-made M113 armored personnel carriers. Ukrainian companies are also working on increasing firepower and protecting APCs of various modifications against enemy UAV attacks.

The vehicle has a collective NBC system. The commander’s station has a turret with night vision. This version will, with small amounts of the M92A2, form most of the Danish M113 APC fleet in the coming years; most M113s will in fact be specialist vehicles rather than APCs.

The M113 was the most widely used armored vehicle of the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War, earning the nickname 'Green Dragon' by the Viet Cong as it was used to break through heavy thickets in the midst of the jungle to attack and overrun enemy positions, but largely known as an APC and ACAV (armored cavalry assault vehicle) by the allied forces. The two-man turret will include an M2A2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV) turret drive system and stabilization system, various subassemblies, and both visual and Tactical Engagement Simulation (TES) representation of the BMP-2 onboard weapon systems.
