Mattel began using a boy mascot, initially named Mac Mattel. The "Mac" Mattel mascot was renamed Matty Mattel; the seal, or "sun" used in this logo has been used by the company's logo since. Matty Mattel's design was simplified but the seal remained essentially the same. In 1969, the seal was changed to the now-familiar red color.
