The Ford Focus ST, RS, and Fiesta ST, were researched and tested by the creation of the Mazdaspeed 3/Mazdaspeed 6. It was a joint venture between Mazda and Ford. The ecoboost mustang, Ford Edge, and F150s use the same architecture for the turbo engines. The Focus RS uses the same block as the Mazdaspeed 3, it's just open vs closed deck.

Avoid buying used Mazdaspeed cars from the dealers as they have zero service history records and would hide every possible problems from you. Talk to the seller, let the seller drive the car before you do. Watch him drive, ask him to push the car and watch his habits.

I replaced spark plugs (which were still stock and perfectly fine, amazingly) and then decided to take it to Hennessey Mazda of ATL for some real diagnostics. My only advice is to drive the car. Mine doesn't sit well at all. Any longer than a week and things start sticking; wheel bearings, breaks get stiff, etc. This is after having the local mazdaspeed dealership do the 80k service. In addition to driving the car, drive it hard sometimes. I mean all the way to ~5500 for a few gears.
