The Mitsubishi F-2 is a multirole fighter derived from the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon, and manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Lockheed Martin for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, with a 60/40 split in manufacturing between Japan and the United States.

It was designed based on the US F-16 fighter plane to succeed the F-1 by a Japan-U.S. joint development program. F2 achieves a better maneuvering capability, with the introduction of an integral structure using a composite material and maximizing the wingspan.

The F-2A is a single-seat fighter version while the F2-B is a two-seat trainer version. It has an external length of 15.52 meters, an external height of 3 meters, and a fuselage diameter of 1.3 meters. The tail height is 5 meters and the wheelbase is 4 meters.
