Nov 7, 2018 · The first record dates back to 1825 when Richard Ward was the Licensed Victualler. During its long history it has had several names starting with the Dog and Moor Game in 1825. In 1851 Edmund Taylor changed the name to the Dog and Grouse and this remained until 1871 when Thomas Orrell changed its name to the Dog and Partridge.

Mar 5, 2025 · On the 5th inst. there were discovered, on the Manor of of Twitton, near Pendle-hill, by Mr. Litter's Game-keeper, of Gisburn-park, a brood of Moor game, seemingly about ten days old, which could fly about that number of yards at a time.
Chronology: 1846 - 1850 - Protoball
The "base-ball" entry: "a country game mentioned in Moor's Suffolk Words, p. 238" (see item #1823.2 above). Rounders is just "a boy's game at balls." Tut-ball is "a sort of stobball."
