25I-NBOMe, also known as 2C-I-NBOMe, Cimbi-5, and shortened to "25I", is a psychedelic drug of the phenethylamine, 2C, and NBOMe (25-NB) families. Since 2010, it has circulated in the recreational drug scene, often misrepresented as LSD. [5]

General structure of 25-NB derivatives, where R is usually 2,5-dimethoxy-4-(alkyl or halogen), R 1 is usually H but rarely methyl, and Cyc is usually 2-substituted phenyl but can be other heterocycles. The 25-NB (25x-NBx) series, or NBOMe series, also known as the N-benzylphenethylamines, is a family of serotonergic psychedelics.

NBOMes are analogs of the 2C family of phenethylamine drugs, originally synthesized by Alexander Shulgin, that contain a N - (2-methoxy)benzyl substituent. The most frequently reported drugs from this group are 25I-NBOMe, 25B-NBOMe, and 25C-NBOMe.

In this Review, the history, chemistry, structure–activity relationships, ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) properties, and safety profiles of NBOMes will be outlined and discussed. May 1, 2019 · A complete analytical characterization of six types of N-benzylphenethylamines (NBOMe), based on the 25I-NBOMe structure, and twelve N-benzyl-5-methoxytryptamine derivatives was provided by extensive procedures using GC-MS, HPLC-DAD, FTIR, ESI-LC-TOF-MS/MS, and LC-MS/MS techniques.
