Jul 14, 2023 · The Nikon FA is a notable exception, it has an early variation on matrix metering and is fantastically amazing. More importantly however is the fact that all Nikon F2 are now more than 40 years old. As good as the metering is/was, don't expect too many of the existing Nikon F2 light meters to be very accurate.

I know many people work on these, but I am specifically looking for someone who is to Nikon mechanical cameras as DAG is to Leicas. I have a Photomic FtN F Apollo body and an F2 Photomic that need to be CLAed and generally pulled back into spec.

The F2 is a very strong camera, higher shutter speed, than an F, the F3 is more modern, but the F with a non metered pentaprism, and 50mm 1.8 is just classic. But for the long haul the F2 would be my pick. Other camers to think about, Spotmatic, Canon F1, and Minolta 201 or 101.

Jan 2, 2014 · The Canon F-1/F-1n is less bulky that a Nikon F2 with a standard (metered) prism finder. Even though the F-1/F-1n has the meter in the body, you can't see the needle with a waist Level finder attached. The Speed Finder will show the needle. With the Nikon F2 I need to keep my eye centered in a very narrow range to see meter readings.

Jan 20, 2016 · Merely an anecdotal observation (meaning, draw no generalized conclusions), but I own an early 70s Nikon F2 w/DP1 finder. Thirty-five years later I took it in for its first CLA. The tech later apologized for charging a minimum fee. He stated that the camera was still in perfect condition. The shutter speeds all within factory tolerance.

Aug 21, 2018 · Well, the best low-light Nikon lens you could put on your F2 is the expensive 58/1.2 Noct-Nikkor. Wide open, it has superior resolution and fewer aberrations out to the edges of the frame than any other Nikon lens, so at f/1.4 or f/1.8 it might perform to your satisfaction.

Jul 22, 2022 · So I recently purchased an F2 that had been recently CLAed and had new foam installed. I've shot an F3HP for years now- it is intuitive to the FE2 that I first started my Nikon journey with in 1993. There are many changes from the 2 to the 3. A lot of which I see as good changes. The screen on my F2 is very clean, but not as bright as my F3.

Jul 19, 2017 · Nikon F2 Wiring Troubleshooting The attached image shows there are three areas where there could be connection issues. 1/ The battery compartment. 2/ The cocking arm points connection. 3/ The Finder points connection. These can be tested with a micrometer starting from the battery compartment.
