It is not therefore unusual to find a 20 year old Great Lakes boat with 400-500hrs on the engine(s). Now think about what has gone wrong on that boat in the last 20 years and realize that one round trip cruise to the Bahamas from Toronto will put the equivalent of 25 years use on your boat and prepare accordingly.

Dec 11, 2014 · Has anyone seen or actually converted an older medium sized sailboat and removed the spars and rigging; just to use as a power boat? I suppose one with damaged spars would make for a cheaper example. Top speeds would be in the 7-8 kt range but fuel economy would be excellent.

Aug 22, 2016 · Many ICW anchorages have several knots of current. The Bahamian moor WAS a very common anchoring technique on the ICW with old style anchors because an anchor was alighed with each current direction.

Is this something that is done often? Are there any cheaper mooring fields that help?
