Sep 20, 2014 · My 404 is timed off 1. Your problem sounds to me like a carburetor issue. A 392 should have a Holley 4150 series 4 barrel carburetor with a governor. They like to blow power valves when they backfire and they run really rich then! If you have a 2 barrel it's a 345.
