Pozzuoli (Italian: [potˈtswɔːli]; Neapolitan: Pezzulo [pətˈtsuːlə]; Latin: Puteoli) is a city and comune (municipality) of the Metropolitan City of Naples, in the Italian region of Campania. It is the main city of the Phlegrean Peninsula.

Pozzuoli is located near Naples, it's a must for who still don't know it. The most famous places in this area are the Solfatara, port and the Rione Terra, but there is also something else.

Pozzuoli, along with neighboring towns in the Phlegrean Fields, is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the geologic process called "bradyseism" that is found here, a particular geo-seismic phenomenon from the gradual uplift and descent of the Earth's crust caused by the filling and emptying from hydrothermal activity.

Just a few miles west of Naples (and easily reached by train), the ancient seaside city of Pozzuoli is probably best known for its bradyseism, a raising and lowering of the Earth’s surface due to underground volcanic activity.
