Jun 9, 2015 · Originally built in 820 during the Tang Dynasty, the Qu Yuan Temple was built in remembrance of the great patriotic poet Qu Yuan who lived during the Warring States Period. The temple was destroyed but restored during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

Qu Yuan (Chu Yuan) was a great statesman and patriotic poet in the Warring States Period (475 BC- 221BC). Qu Yuan Temple (屈原祠) was first constructed in the year of 820 AD in his birthplace, Quyuan Village in Zigui County.
