Jun 24, 2016 · The XIa is a 2-way ported design with the model W-11 10" cloth-surround woofer and the T-11 3-1/2" paper tweeter. The crossovers consist of an audio choke (inductor), resistor and capacitor. It's the same woofer as the XI but a different tweeter (the XI used a phenolic ring) and it is crossed over at 1,000Hz instead of 1,800 like the XI.

Oct 30, 2009 · Rectilinear changed designs at least once throughout the XI's production. So if you have speakers that are not consecutive serial numbers, you may notice some differences between the two speakers that will affect sound quality.

The Rectilinear XIa is one of the latter type, and it employs a tube vent which is filled with fiberglass to give the necessary acoustic resistance. The theoretical advantages, as compared with the IB system, are a slightly higher sensitivity and an extended bass response.

Nov 5, 2009 · I just finished upgrading the dead tweeters in a pair of XIA Rectilinears. I am impressed, nice tight bass, and the dome tweeters bring the highs up a bit. These will make someone a nice pair of speakers for a vintage system.

Dec 30, 2005 · Well, here is the deal. I found a set of Rectilinear XIa's at a local thrift store today, they aren't super expensive, but they have had the surrounds replaced and don't have matching tweeders. Are they worth picking up?

Jan 31, 2011 · Along with the Mini-III, the X and Xa are the only acoustic suspension (fully sealed cabinets, no port) models in the line-up, and the only ones I am aware of with a 4-ohm nominal impedance rating. I suspect it will be this 4-ohm rating which makes it difficult to find authentic 10" replacement woofers. Hi Martin, I have found a pair -- thank you.

Jul 19, 2020 · Do you have XIa or XIb? I'm not sure that your pictures match your comments about which model you have. Keep in mind that Rectiliinear's crossover point supposedly did vary from 1000 Hz to 2000 Hz, depending upon the specific XI model.
