Thirteen different facial expressions were sculpted for Rheneas, although only twelve were used on-screen and one of which a tired face was left unused. The faces were first sculpted in clay and from that resin casts were made of a silicone mould.

Rheneas' large scale model is currently on display at the Hara Model Railway Museum in Japan and is wearing his chuckling face. Rheneas' small scale model is currently owned by Twitter user TomsProps and is wearing his unused laughing face.

Updates are as follows: - There are now four faces in a row instead of three (with some of the faces being rearranged). - Nose is enlarged on face base (mainly according to Skarloey's face update). - "Smirk" is made to look more accurate to original face mask. - A few more faces are added/renamed/edited.

The 2004-2011 Rheneas face is based on Sir Handel's face from the television series. This possibly happened because several promotional photos of Rheneas such as his nameboard showed his model with Sir Handel's face. The prototype of the 2013 Rheneas features light orange paint and a 2004-2011 face. Gallery []

May 26, 2024 · As my favorite NG engine, I do enjoy the design of Rheneas's faces, as I like the round, chubby nose, wide-open eyes and his charismatic smiles. And wouldn't you know it, like Skarloey, he also has 14 Face Masks.

Oct 12, 2017 · A good example of this would be our Rheneas face. It was clearly made for season 4 and matches expressions many of the other narrow gauge engines had on screen, but it never appeared. This was most likely due to Rheneas's limited screen time and the fact his main story did not have the need for this expression.

Jul 1, 2023 · Sometime after those pics were taken my horrified Rheneas face broke and I had to repair and repaint it, it was a little to dark for my liking though so I ended up repainting it again, will show that tomorrow.
