Mar 11, 2022 · I think you are outdated. Most roofer recommends valley seal now even when it is not broken. During heavy downpours, even with side of valley pointing upwards cannot hold crazy amount of rainwater and will backflow into the roof. The valley seal will seal the gap between the tiles and the valley.

In Canberra few people get their roof painted, it is just a sales excercise as the painters claim few things like it prevents water seeping through the minute cracks in the tiles etc. They seems to use some epoxy like paint which should seal, I am not very sure about it.

My neighbour has a large gumtree overgrowing my shed and I was forever having to sweep gum leaves and gum nuts that find their way in. I worked from inside the shed on a tall step ladder. I cut the foam into bits then poked the bits in between the roof sheet and ridge capping.
