Oct 7, 2012 · 5904 answers I spoke with Jeff Whitehouse at S&W today regarding the 5904 I purchased (nice guy, very helpful). He said the pistol shipped in 1988, and had never been serviced at S&W since it left. He was not able to tell me anything about its original factory configuration, however.

Mar 18, 2011 · Tomorrow, I will be picking up a 3rd Gen S&W (model 1066) that I just purchased. This pistol has the clicking trigger that Jim talked about as he explained the trigger play spring. I am now looking forward to getting into this pistol and seeing if I can figure out what is going on.

Jan 5, 2021 · My LGS just got in a decent S&W 5904 with a serial number of TDDXXXX. The problem is the "TDD" part. My Smith book states that they were produced from 1988-98. The issue is on page 492. It shows the 3-digit letters during the production run, but not TDD. I don't think I overlooked anything but I don't know why it's not listed.

Aug 24, 2012 · Reading an issue of Gunsmith's Magazine. There was an article about the S&W model 5906 9mm handgun. Claiming it is the finest made 9mm in it's class. The photo shown in the magazine, was the model with the round trigger guard and stainless trigger/hammer. I asked the local gunsmith in my town about this claim.

Mar 31, 2023 · Check egw guns (egwguns.com). They make bases for the S&W model 52. It does fit in the rear sight dove tail, necessitating removal of the rear sight. However, I do not know it the 52 and 59 dove tails are the same. I think the 52 sight is wider. To use a cliche, you will have to think ouside the box to accomplish your quest. Good luck.

Aug 8, 2010 · . not a common model to find for sale. I have a 915 and they are solid 3rd gen guns. The 915 had all metal parts and although a Value series pistol, S&W only made them for a couple years(1992-1994), so they had 15 round magazines and were virtually identical to the 5904/5906, Only difference being, smaller sights , and a crappy black finish.

Sep 28, 2011 · frame S&W semi-auto pistols. The coppery-looking spring that presses trigger hooks to the drawbar is the "trigger play spring". It doesn't do much in DA, but in SA, it keeps the trigger hooks (more or less) pressed into the horizontal V-groove in the drawbar, which can reduce or eliminate a click, as you start pulling slack out of trigger in SA.
